Pugent Sound Gumweed is a member of the sunflower family. The flower heads are covered with a resinous substance. Thrives in clay soils and readily self-sows. Because it is one of the few flowers that blooms up until November, it is a good source of pollen for butterflies, bees and other insects.

Gumweed does not bloom until the second year. The picture to the left is an example of what the first year growth looks like.
