A perennial emergent grass that grows well in seasonally flooded or permanent shallow ponds. Works well for soil stabilization. The seeds are eaten by waterfowl and the roots by wetland mammals.

Late summer or early fall planting is recommended. Seed requires a cool, moist stratification and will germinate the following spring.
