This robust aquatic plant is a critical food source for waterfowl and small mammals. It spreads by rhizomes and seed, forming dense colonies that stabilize shorelines and improve wetland structure. It porivides cover and nesting habitat for waterfowl, shorebirds and amphibians.

Plant about 4 lbs /acre at 1/4"-1" deep. Plant in the fall when soil is moist. May take up to 2 years to germinate due to needing a cold, moist period (winter) followed by a 2nd cold moist period (summer).
