These tubers grow quickly and spread rapidly in wet marshes and shallow ponds. Will sprout in up to 12 inches of water. Waterfowl devour the seed head, foliage and tubers. A little seed goes a long way! Best planted in fall. Matures in 90-120 days.

Planting Instructions: Use general ground prep method (click here).

Broadcast 1 to 3 lbs per acre, lightly harrow and roll if possible. Seed should be planted no deeper than 1/4". It is best to plant in the fall as wapato needs to be damp and cold for at least 60 days to break dormancy.  We have also had great success spreading the seed on a pond with the wind at our back. Some sinks and some floats to the far shore. It sprouts in the spring.

Companion Crops: WATER PLANTAIN, MANNAGRASS, AMERICAN SLOUGHGRASS
